VFW 4090 hosted a breakfast fundraiser on April 23, 2023 for their other brothers and sisters in uniform, Portland’s first responders. Former Post Commander Bill Almy spearheaded the endeavor with the assistance from many volunteers and a generous donation from Herbrucks Poultry Farm. The first responders set up static displays and had a free drawing for a number of bicycles for the kids as well.

On May 25, Post Commander Dave Reed, accompanied by Bill, attended the Portland City Council meeting. Commander Reed was introduced to the council by Portland’s City Manager, Tutt Gorman. In total, the VFW raised more than $2,800; which will be split between the three entities.
